Smartphones that won't be able to use WhatsApp properly after next week

WhatsApp is about to stop working on older phone models like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.

WhatsApp said :

"These devices may also not have the latest security updates or may lack the features needed to run WhatsApp."

To choose what to stop supporting, every year, like other tech companies, we look at which devices and software are the oldest and least used by people.”

This doesn't mean that WhatsApp will stop working on these older phones completely - it just means that the company won't support them with updates. So bugs and other issues may appear over time without any fix available.

If you can, it may be possible to update the operating system on your older device and continue using WhatsApp as usual.

If your device cannot be updated to the latest version of the operating system, you will need to purchase a newer phone.

WhatsApp recommends iOS 9 and above from Apple and Android v4.3 and above to continue to receive support.

Any phone running Android 4.3 or lower and iOS 9 or lower will not work reliably on WhatsApp after December 31, 2022. The platform already ended support for smartphones running Android 2.3.7 and iOS 8 in February of this year.
